accused of "standby"

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, I just googled halo and forum and found this site. I was playing Halo2 and was accused of using "standby". I only bought this console to play with my nephew who lives in another city. I have no idea what they were talking about, but everyone seemed pissed. No one else has access to this console and I have neither the time or desire to learn how to cheat. When I asked the other players what they were talking about, they just cussed me out. Is there something wrong with my console? How do I f ix it?
