Apparently, it's a major difference between personal beliefs about this topic, so I just have a few questions to ask you. Yes, this argument would never end if we just let it carry on like that.
If that was the case, why isn't Runescape the way it was a long time before without all the trade restrictions and item drop rules? On another note, if time wasn't put into making things like banning scams and whatnot, every Runescape help board would be flooded with scam posts, including the official forums, and nobody would visit them at all, which, in turn soils the reputation of the game, which eventually kills it very quickly. I understand your point of dumb people getting what the deserve, but there's actually people who are new to the concept of MMORPG or just online gaming altogether. I answered the first part of that question already. "on the other hand, all the admins know is that this is one less customer. so they increase it so more stupid people will give them money." This is the bottom line for Jagex, i assure you. it's the primary bit of reasoning for all their decisions. in the scam thing, when people got scammed and their stuff stolen, they got sad and stopped playing the game. jagex obviously realized that most of their money is pulled in from the people who are easy targets to scamming so they worked mostly on that area. (before they realized this, reporting didn't ever work, it was kickass). and like you said, if they just let this go on into the official forums as well, it would soil their reputation and kill the game. they obviously don't want that. And hey, runescape was the first mmorpg i ever played. did getting scammed a couple times stop me from playing it for like 4 years? but obviously the vast majority would lose their spirit if they did, so once again, that's why jagex works against scamming. the bottom line: money.
Okay, a few questions and maybe my own two cents, 'cause I dunno when to shut up. This isn't an argument, but... Um, concerning stupidity, if you know that putting your hand on the stove burns and hurts a lot and you don't like it, but you do it anyway, isn't that stupid? I thought you meant doing something morally wrong? This is when youre doing something stupidly wrong. scamming can no way be compared to doing something stupidly wrong, since good scams are much harder to perform than the normal gaming stuff itself. it'd seem to question morals, but i already addressed why that's not the case.
Free Games forums!!!!!! This kills me: why make links to the home page of a forum that you're already on and posting in? I mean, you have to be registered to post anyway! It's already done its job! WHY THE OVERKILL???? *Breaks down and cries* EDIT!!!!!!! FREE - game - and now Free Games! WHY, JAMMER? WHY???? Oh. because more links increases crawler searching on search engines. he's caught up in the fact that google only ever points to this forum and not the main site itself. i guess he just wants more people in his real site. hahaha. even jimjam wants the money
Yeah, kinda dumb since people find out about the forum from the website not the other way around. hmmm. actually, maybe not. did you? i think i came in through a thread from the runescape classic forum back when it was there. i dunno, i thought most people actually came through the forums not the actual website.
