The Guide for a Rogue Who Wants to Raid
|
Can't Post

Well, I have nothing better to do. The basic guide for a basic rogue begins: Firstly, what you must initially do is find a guild. Hell, any guild that raids Karazhan. You might find it hard, but you have to keep persevering. Apply to every guild on the server till you're in. Once you do, the tough (but fun) part starts. Found a guild that raids yet? Great, to focus on gear: Your basic focus as a rogue is hit rating. Yeah. Don't you dare think otherwise. Your attack power and crit is useless in any raid if you can't hit. They recommend a hit rating of 150+ in Karazhan, but if you don't have that rating, go anyways, cause the whole point of Karazhan is to gear up till you get to the bigger stuff anyway. The point is: Socket all your gems with hit rating, and if you're rich, get that 10 hit rating and 5% snare resist on boots. It owns, but needs a primal nether (Used to be expensive, dirt cheap with 2.4 though) and various enchanting mats. You might think it's stupid, but it isn't. On my rogue, even with hit rating of 263 I STILL miss in TK/SSC. Not allot, but one miss in one battle makes the hell of the difference. Weapons: Swords. Hell yes. If you think you're a rogue and daggers is your thing, you need to stop raiding. Really. With daggers, you're gonna be arsed to get behind your target ALL the time. It sucks. Any excess energy in a fight is wasted, and since the high energy cost of backstab is a bitch, you'll find yourself constantly at 100 energy not being able to backstab. WASTED DPS. As swords, all you have to do is a simple rotation. Since you can maintain a really high DPS all the time, nothing is lost. Also, when raiding, you might as well forget stealth as well, unless you want to see something. WHY? Because in the time it takes for you to stealth and reach the target, you could've just ran there and done double the dps the opening move would have done in white damage. Yeah. Talent spec: Combat. Yes, combat. It's the only sensible thing for a rogue PvE. Not only do you have the 5% extra hit, you also have 5% extra chance to hit AGAIN with the sword. Don't forget the extra hit can crit. Thats 4X damage when both hits crit. It happens. Alot. You also get 10% damage on all your yellow damage, which is priceless. You get a longer slice and dice, which is your most important finisher in Raiding. You get an improved kick, which owns at every single raid position possible, cause even if you miss the interrupt, you still have a 2 second silence. It's win. You also get the 20% chance to get 15 energy when you hit with your offhand. Get a fast offhand, and the 15 energy proc WILL proc often. It's just the best. Improved sprint will help you always, especially in fights like Shade of Aran, and various others. Owns in mount Hyjal as well, but you're still gonna need the two minute medallion of the alliance thing there. But whatever. The best raiding spec ever: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?tal=3053201050000000000003203052022050150003210510000000000000000000000 Has all of the above and more. Energy saving, Combo point giving, all of it. Follow the above and you should be pretty ass kicking in the DPS meters, no matter what you do, but to maximize the DPS, follow the simple rotation. Firstly, you either do use stealth or you don't. I only advise on using stealth when you're in a position where you wouldn't lose time doing it. So, if you are using stealth: Rupture>Slice N Dice>Sinister strike X5>Slice N Dice>Sinister Strike X5>Eviscerate Keep getting combo points for eviscerate until you're slice N Dice runs out, which is when you'll gather combo points to do it again. Efficiency is the goal here. Garrote at 5 combo points isn't bad either. Poisons: It's always going to end up between Instant and Deadly poison. They're both good, but I recommend either one depending on your mood. I noticed that I had a higher DPS with instant poison on both weapons than any other combination, so go with that. When not to use poisons: Certain bosses and mobs are immune to poisons. In this case, take off you poisons and let a shaman in the party use Windfury Totem. Some people with too much time on their hands (Kinda like me) have shown and proven that actually, in all cases, even when the boss is not immune to poisons, using windfury is better for a rogue. So understand: If you have an enhancement shaman with you in the group, forget poisons and tell him he's on Windfury patrol. And that's it, basically, for a rogue if you want to raid. I'll post some tactics in the eyes of a rogue for you. Mainly karazhan, cause I don't think you guys are anywhere further yet.
