A lil help with online mode (PS2)	Can't Post

I have local internet through a modem conected to the pc just not internet (its like a portbal one) and theres only one ethernet plugin in the back of the pc so i hooked it to the modem put it the online disk and then it says it cant find the link when i had the pc on and running and internet turned on then i tested the cord but it works fine... Could I have some help someone?

HOw? Huh? DOnt you need an adapter for PS2 and put the ethernet from the modem tothe adapter? lol.
