But anyway the thing won't work anymore. It won't turn the discs. How can I fix this?

Dreamcast eh...
I would put it down to these options:
1) I would advise you to buy one second hand as it would be cheaper than buying a new spindle.
1a) If you get a new one then unscrew the cover, give it a thorough check to make sure the things in good condition, then if you like u could get the cover sprayed or something since dreamcast cream is a horrible colour.
2)Buy a new spindle.
3)Ppin the disks manually. (Poor tramps soloution.)

Sega stopped manufacturing the DreamCast about 4 years ago, so no. There are plenty of spare parts available though... Wink

well i hear about this on some dream cast the spindle stops working but apparently if u can get a ps2 spindle there supose to be identical

It's ok. I have a friend on the other side of Grand Rapids who does too. But he also has a PS2.

I had a similar problem with my GC. The lens that reads the discs was misaligned. I simply re-aligned it, being careful not to directly touch it, and the GAMES worked again.

sorry if its been mentioned, i had the same problem, ur prob is the GAMES are dirty, clean the lens (or buy a new one) clean the fan ( or buy a new one) flean the discs ( or buy new ones)

simple?

Try cleaning the laser, or if its burnt out buy a new one. But, you will need to sodder it and everything, which you need tools for.

Anyways - the only reason people don't like Dreamcast is because they gave up on make GAMES early on because you would easily burn GAMES with it, and play them without even needing a mod chip, or what ever those chips are called.

all you need is a new motor pick open the thing up take it out show it to the guys at a hardware store and you will have your Dreamcast as good as new! If you want you can take the lens moter and connector from a PS1 and hook it in the Dreamcast i think its about the same size.
