PS2 Disc read Error Fix.	Can't Post

What you will need:
PhilipsScrewdriver(Normal)
PhilipsScrewdriver(Eyeglass)
Cotton balls or swabs
Rubbing alcohol
Felt tip permanent marker

First look on back of PS2. Now all the way to the right there is a Warranty sticker. Either peel it of or cut it in half. Now turn it up side down and pull out all the screw caps and remove screws. Flip it back over and lift from back and pull towards you. Be carefull cause the ribbon cable is attached to the cover. Take the cover lay it so the side with the PS2 logo is laying on ground to the right of PS2. Take the eyeglass screwdriver and remove all the screws on the top of the laser lens cover. (It is the big black square that says laser warning on a yellow sticker for the slow ones.) Now dip the cotton balls/swabs in rubing alcohol. Rub the laser lens in a circular movement for 30 second. Rub dry with dry swab and repeat in other direction. Now put a disk on and place the cover over it and test it to see if it now works. If it does reasemmble your PS2 If not then take the cover back off and the cd out. Look behind the Lens and tehre should be a little white gear. To left side of the gear there is a metal notch. Take the marker and mark wich notch it is on. Rotate it 2 or 3 ways to the left. Test it. If nothing try 2 or 3 right. Keep playing untill you have got it working and then Reasemble your PS2. Now it should work yay.

Oh my lord! Yes they have errors! I'm on my 3rd Ps2. I just used my warranty is why im on 3rd. This is meant for people who's warranty died. I need to buy new parts cause I lost some lol.

I'm currently on PS2 number one, bought from brand new (pre-ordered) on Europe Release date in 2000. Not one problem.

I ripped apart a PS2 in order to get the BIOS from it. Trying to make a working emulator for PC lovers everywhere!

Haha, LOL. Ive had my ps2 for AGES! Its struggling to work now, 'disc read error'. Sometimes the game actually loads and then im like ''YES FINNALY!'' then it says ''Disc read error'' NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Hi i'm am new to this forum room.
I have a problem with my ps2.
I think that it might of been dropped by someone and now it's doesn't read ps2 discs or dvd disc it only reads psone discs and normal cds.
I have tried to fix it with the rubbing alcohol and adjusting the voltage on the lens but unfortunately it didn't work. Any advice or suggestion would be gratefullyappreciated. tnx

ijm on my eighth ps2 see if i had to pay normal price i wunt have had so many but i get em like �50 but seriously i had 7 brake from this error but i never knew how to fix em so i ethier smashed em or threw em away but 1 i was losing at a game and i kicked it and put my foot right threw it and i broke my foot it was rather funny

Ahh my ps2 dose a little clicky sound. Like Scratch scractch Clicky clickly scracth... So on..

Yeah lik emy bro's xbox used to scratch the hell out of his games.

mine does the exact same thing,but one of my bros friends that used to go to high school with him is one of those customer support operators for microsoft in kentucky so we told him about it and hes gonna get it fixed for free Cool

im sure if u called costumer support they will prolly fix it because i belive microsoft stands by there products(cant promise this)

I got the new "slim" one... but the bad thing is that it doesn't have a cooling fan... and my brother left it in a drawer turned on for 7 hours and it overheated. The plastic on the back was actually melting so much that it was soft and gooey and you could smell it burning. There was smoke coming out of the vent holes.
