Call of Duty 2 Installation Help Can't Post

I just bought Call of Duty 2 around 3 days ago. I attempted to install it and everything ran fine until I got to the 5th disk. I got an error message saying it cannot read from the file --- whatever its called. I returned it because I noticed some scratches on the disk and I got a new package. Now, I am trying to install it again and the same thing happened. I checked the Activision support but I am not sure on what they are telling me here

The first suggestion says close all background applications. I am kind of hessitant to do that and I am not sure whether they mean Processes or Applications because when I tried to install it I did'nt have any other programs running and it still didn't work.

The second suggestion says to change the DMA on my cd drive. I already knew where to go, but when I got to my cd drive profile on device manager and clicked properties on it, there was no "settings tab" as it says on the activision support page.
(I went to "My Computer" right clicked, properties, hardware, device manager, DVD/CD-ROM Drives, right clicked on my CD Drive and clicked properties. There is no settings tab.) Screen shot of the missing settings tab.

Any help would be appreciated.
Umm just post here if you have any questions. I REALLY WANT TO PLAY!!! Frown

Thanks

1) Right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
2) Click the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
3) Go down the list and find IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
4) Double-click on Primary IDE Channel.
5) Click the Advanced Settings tab.

6) From the Transfer Mode drop down menu, select DMA if available and click OK.
7) Repeat steps 4-6 for the Secondary IDE Channel.
