Download and install the newest version of DirectX. If that doesn't work, let us know.


This should also be in PC Support, you should PM a mod to move it for you.

I have the latest direct x (and i downloaded the newest one anyways just incase and it still didnt work)...and i'll get a mod to move it for me.

Disagreed. My new computer is an Optiplex GX260 that runs like an absolute dream (with a GeForce 6200). Dells also tend to install/run Linux without any problems (unlike lousy eMachines).

Click start, hit the "Run" button and type in 'dxdiag' minus the single quotes.

First, check again to see if you have the latest DirectX. Then go to the DirectX Files tab, and make sure the little box at the bottom says that there are no problems found. Then go to the display tab, and make sure DirectDraw is enabled, then test it. Post the results of the test.

Start<All Programs<Diablo II<Video Test<Run Test

Then instead of choosing the one already chosen which is probably directdraw, try like Direct3D.

My old dell inspiron broke no less than 3 times in under a year, it also had a tendency to overheat, it also came pre-installed with AOL software that I've never managed to remove.

Oh and good luck if your pc ever breaks and you try to get it repaired under their warrantee.

Your AOL folder is probably stashed away in the system32 folders if it came with it, have you checked there?

Mine used to be my dad's, and his roommate smoked like a chimney. I opened it up and the CPU fan was clogged with hard red dust, along with the PSU fan. Cleaned all that out thoroughly, slapped in a new hard drive, then tossed in my videocard and wireless card, and had no problems except for the one I recently posted in PC Support, which I fixed.

Forget warranty. My dad didn't get this computer straight from Dell and I know enough about fixing 'em anyway.
