Hard Drive Problem. Can't Post

I have had a problem with my hard drive when Ubuntu was put into my computer, it was not installed.
But somehow took over my hard drive, when I boot a windows xp disk from start up its saying I don't have a hard drive and it won't continue the Windows Xp Home Edition install???? I have tried everything I can think of as too how to fix my computer, i'm running right now on a much slower computer, if you can help me out, i'm open for your opinion.....
Also the computer with the problem is an AMD Athlon.

Congratulations with Ubuntu wise decision, who manufactured your computer? HP, Dell, gateway, IBM? who made it? depending on who it is button smash f8 f10/11/12 or w/e it is on your machine then run in safe mode, if that fails geta way to open your hard drives Dos prompt and see what is still on there.

Probably the hard drive is formatted in a format windows doesn't support. And with Ubuntu installed, you can't really install a second operating system without partitioning the hard drive.

I would format the hard drive and install XP. There are other solutions where you wouldn't lose your data but they require at least some know-how. I don't think I could manage it myself without help, seeing as I don't have any experience. Try asking someone you know who knows a bit about computers. That's probably the best idea.
