I tryed on real player and it said it needed to update so i clicked check for the update and it sad there is no need to update so i press play and it happens again....

Nvm, i un-installed real-player and did windows movie and it said i needed codex so i downloaded and now it runs. sorry for making a useless thread

Avi.'s are ussually viruses. So unless its made by you or a trustworthy person I'd scan it.

Err actually avi is just a popular video container, I don't see how it can be infected (unless it's really an executable file of some sort)

Good. Now go download Real Alternative so you can view .rm files in Windows Media Player without installing additional software. Get QuickTime Alternative while you're at it.

AVI isn't executable, if you ever got a virus from an avi it's your media player that's the problem.

.WMP can contain a thing that causes you to download a required license that does not exist. It would require you to download the license, which is a virus, to watch the movie that doesn't exist.
