Mysterious black screen. Can't Post
I booted into this new PC with the XP install CD and ahead with an installation on a hard drive with two partitions on it (one huge one with all the stuff from my old computer, and a smaller one for the installation). Unfortunately the installation partition ended up being labeled as D:\, but I can't fix this because the computer goes to a black screen every time I try to boot (both from the HDD and the CD). So I can't get into a repair console to fix the MBR or change drive letters (which likely isn't even the problem, the old 20GB drive worked fine).

Are there any topics like this on other forums?

EDIT: Here's one. Any solutions?

Try put the HD into another computer and making another partition there. Then boot into that partition on the current computer.

I found out that it only went to the black screen AFTER I installed Windows. So if I, say, booted into the Windows 2000 CD and deleted the partition and/or fixed the MBR, I could boot from the XP CD again.

Ultimately I decided to back up my important partition to my old PC, then DBAN it and install XP fresh. Seeing as I wasn't able to switch the drive letters or anything.
