Every year many fall victim to P2P scams. In other words infected files filled with virus. We may call this "Virus Warfare". In order to help people here I will show you a few tips on how to avoid this. I use LimeWire PRO, so I'll be using that. Ok, first lets look at something that you would expect to find a lot of scams. How about LimeWire PRO? Here is one result:
I'm going to kill 2 birds with one stone on this one. Notice two things: 1. It's an exe. NEVER trust exe's. Always try to look for a zip. They allow you to scan them before they get on your computer. 2. Look at the size. Little bit small for a P2P program, eh? Also be sure to not get something that seems to big as well. It means that it may have the original program, but its stuffed with viruses. Let's look at a clean file.
This is in fact what I have. Once downloaded and scanned, it reveals no viruses and doesn't even show signs of one such as extra files and major computer slowdown. Just in case: Scan your whole computer after every few downloads. even though you scanned that file, doesn't mean you're home FREE. You shouldn't even use P2P programs if you don't have virus protection. Just a little thing I felt like typing, probably won't help a lot of people, but good luck.
