Which GAMES? If you're thinking Half-Life 2 then upgrade both at the same time. Others like CoD 2 would benefit first from a videocard upgrade.

Ok well then I'll just upgrade both when I get the money because I was thinking of playing HL2. Thanks

Half-Life 2 likes powerful CPUs as well as videocards. Go for the videocard; HL2-worthy cards are getting steadily cheaper, though RAM is as always expensive. Run out to a computer store for the card, and try to find some cheap RAM online.

I play Half life 2 just fine on my Intel Integrated GMA 900.
I have 512 mb ram, I get 40+ fps.

Bull. What's your motherboard model and CPU?

So I don't see how you can play Half-Life 2 "just fine," and I'm surprised you can play it at all. Your CPU's more than up to scratch but I remember trying to play the Halo demo a few years back with a 1.8GHz CPU and integrated graphics and it wouldn't let me install.

Then it must've been an old integrated card.

It was an S3 ProSavage 8. Enough to play N64 Roms, but not good enough for UT2004.

Knowing your integrated video can usually lead to a motherboard model. I'll look yours up.

Halo was very poorly converted over to the PC. Everyone has performance issues with it.

Yeah, it went slowly even with a 128MB Radeon.

well i think you should def go for a meaner vid-card because coz your vid card is way [Expletive Deleted]ter then the amount of memory you have.
512 isnt great but its better that a 9200

but bare inmind that if you get a mean vidcard the loading will be a[Expletive Deleted] but as soon as its loaded it will run mint

fun is fun but GAMES are business

I can run the Halo demo fine on an intergrated SiS 651 graphics card with shared memory (have it on 64mb at the moment).
System specs are as follows:
Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz
512mb RAM (shared with Graphics card)
SiS 651 intergrated graphics chip

It's all about the driver, my card doesn't even support Hardware T&L, not to mention pixel and vertex shaders, so yeah...

And then there was silence.
