Wireless card help Can't Post

My D-Link AirPlusG wireless internet card isn't working. I've reinstalled it, put it back in. Did everything to the router i possibly could (rewire, reset , unplugged" The internet on main computer works fine, and it even worked before. It just randomly stopped working. When I unplug\restart comp the sign on the bottom right doesn't appear (connection sign).
When I start internet, the bottom left appears as if its loading (download sign) for a second and then i get the page cannot be displayed, i've tried conencting to all the things when the connection thing does come up, but its very rare and random. when the connection thing is up i hit connect it says limited or no connectivity and the internet still doesn't work.'

All help appreciated,

P.S the card goes in the front usp port, dont have any in back.

Ok, a number of possible solutions:

  • Do you have all the correct drivers installed for it?

  • Does your computer recognize the card?

  • Is your computer too far away from the base station?

  • Is the base station installed properly?

  • Do you even have a base station?

  • And then there was silence.

Forgot to add when i try to add it again, it just says the device cannot start(Code 10)
  • Do you have all the correct drivers installed for it?

  • idk i reinstalled it and then did everything on quick install guide and nothing happened.
  • Does your computer recognize the card?

  • sometimes it doesnt. it always appears on network adapters list but never on the bottom right sign
  • Is your computer too far away from the base station?

  • its always been like this. worked before in the same place. they are just a wall apart
  • Is the base station installed properly?
idk i hit the reset button and replug the things in back of router...if thats what a base station is
  • Do you even have a base station?

  • lol o.o

I think you need to ditch wireless and go back to cable, Cable Guy.

Wtf kind of card do you have? Plugs into a USB slot? No USB slots in back of your laptop what? I have four in back and two on the side on my laptop and I believe that most desktops have at LEAST two USB slots on the back. Newer ones have slots in the front and back.

Where are you receiving you internet from? If you have a wireless card receiver, there should be a wireless router somehwere (The other room across the wall). Is that internet working? Tell me what lights on the router are flashing.

    bye.

Your default gateway is your router or switch or whatever device your connection passes through before going out to the Internet. Go into the command line and type "ping loopback" first, to make sure that your network card works, then ipconfig to find the IP address of your default gateway and ping that.

Betcha he doesn't know how to enter line commands, Athlon.

My Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt is the path to what you need to use, Cable Guy.

@ peach - WLAN and STATUS blink, 1 and power solid. It's a router that has cables going to power\modem\harddrive on main comp.

What model router are you using?

Using a generic D-Link as an example, 2 more buttons should be lit up, you WAN and the router slot you use.

    bye.

K, so your network card works. Now ping the default gateway. This is normal network troubleshooting stuff that you should be trying before you do anything more complicated.
