It doesn't boot anymore and we don't have the mac os 9 cd anymore, can I download it somewhere? And will the computer read the cd?

You'll probably need a Mac to read the file, though, so hope that you have an extra one around. Or get it or OS X on eBay (or both, sometimes they come bundled).
