Any you like.
But they must meet the requirements (30x30 - 40x40 for charactars, 20x20 to 30x30 for enemies) and be original, not a copy of a nintendo charactar or something.

Make it in paint if you like, or anything.

A few questions, what style of characters do you want, maybe a example would help us. Also, is it topdown? sideview? isometric?

I will try one one i know more.

Sideview. Style doesn't matter as long as it fits the sizes.
