I hate blasting anyway. The only drummer I know of who can make blastbeats sound good is Kai Hahto on the Wintersun album. Otherwise it's just so... plain.

Well clearly you don't listen to much death metal.
Listen to Suffocation, they've got the sickest drummer I've ever heard.

Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a colored pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling. -G.K. Chesterton (On Lying In Bed)

I just checked it out. He's fast, but nothing, nothing but that. He doesn't play complicated things, his break are just "RrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRrrrrrRRRR". Drummers like Kai Hahto really add little touches, a quick roll on the hi-hat here, a little fill on the toms there. Then, when he does blastbeats, he always adds little accents on the hi-hat and cymbals and toms while blasting on the snare with the other hand. The outcome is... melodic. That's how I like it.

And then there was silence.

Well the whole purpose of blastbeating is creating a "wall of sound", the purpose was never to be melodic, just brutal, thick sound.
Perhaps Roadrunner United's work may enlighten you, that's where I first heard him..
