  • Suggested Program Guide



    • Adobe Photoshop - US $649.00 - http://www.adobe.com

    Pros: Best graphic design program out there, still. Very powerful, and has a lot to offer for graphic designers, web designers, and image editors alike.
    Cons: Pricy, but worth it.

    Part of the Adobe Creative Suite, 5 out of 5.


    The GIMP - Freeware - http://www.gimp.org/

    Pros: Free. Has a lot of Photoshop's power, including some things that Photoshop doesn't have. Available for Linux users.
    Cons: Kind of a clunky interface. Some of Photoshop's tools are missing. Some tools just kinda suck.

    Macromedia Fireworks - US $299 - http://www.macromedia.com

    Pros: Dominates at creation of animated GIFs. Easy to use, and has good functionality. ImageReady can hit the road.
    Cons: not exactly the best thing to use if you are a graphic designer. Create your images in Photoshop, animate them in Fireworks.

    Paint.NET - US $0.00 - http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/

    Pros: Free, open source, comes with update manager and interface seen in Visual Studio.NET. Powerful, though simple to use.
    Cons: Pfft. I dunno.

    Graphics Gale - �1,995 ($18 USD) - http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/us/

    Pros: Snaps pixels to a grid, easy animation.
    Cons: no looping or gif file type without pay. Create your pixelled frames and slap them in a gif editor. Only good for pixelling.
