How to make a fav icon for your site

I'll make this short and sweet... As most of you have noticed if you add the main page of this forum (forum.FREE-GAMES.com.au) to your fav list, it'll show an icon to the left of it. To be more exact, this is the icon: forum.FREE-GAMES.com.au/favicon.ico If you look at the source of the main page, you can see this line at the top of the <body> tag: <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/favicon.ico"> And that is the only line you need to add an icon. Just put an icon file (.ico) in your root dir of your web host. Then add a line similar to the one above. I like to put in my in <head> tag just because it seems... umm... more right.. lol. The only problem is that, if the person doesn't add your main page to their favs, then it won't have the icon. For example, in these forums, someone might just add this game Technology forum to their favs (forum.FREE-GAMES.com.au/forum/game_Technology_C8/). Doing this would not show an icon file in the favs menu. But hell... the icon isn't THAT important. It's just a neat addition you can add to any sites you make. Also, in case you were wondering, to make an .ico file... their are many FREE icon editors available for download on the net. Just use good old google.
