In this tutorial, you will learn how to make an abstract image that sort of resembles a disk. Step 1: Create a new 400x400 image, and then press D. This will reset the colors. Fill the background with black. Then, go to Filters > Render > Lens Flare. Set the brightness to 100%. Do it in 5 different places, like shown:
Step 2: Go to Filters > Blur > Radial Blur. Use these settings:
Step 3: Now, go to Filters > Stylize > Find Edges. Your result should look something like this (it tends to vary):
Step 4: Select the disk-looking thingy in the middle. After you select it, copy it:
Step 5: Now, create a new document, and paste it. Creat a new layer, and fill it with white. Drag the white layer behind the image (Grab the thumbnail and drag it down). Your layer window should look like this:
Step 6: Select one of the layers, and press Control + I. This will invert it. Select the other layer, and invert that one, too. It will look lke this:
Step 7: Now, we need to make the disc thing appear to give off light. Select the plain black layer, and go to Filters > Render > Lens Flare. Put the lens flare in the middle of the layer, and enhance the brightness to 162%. Step 8: To make it look softer, select the disc layer, and go to Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Adjust it until it looks right. Voila! You have made an abstract disk! Here is what my final result looked like:
Have fun!
