Sentinels on crack. They have (I think) lasers and some sort of high-speed needler-type weapon.

I haven't played Halo 2 (PC only, w00t w00t) but that's what I've been able to garner.

ya but this is when i am playing on multiplayer and i was flying... and i just died... and it said "Killed By The Guardians" it was really wierd and it happened a couple of times to me and my friends

There's a cheat/glich thing where you press switch weapon 5 times and shoot and it will kill everyone on the screen. It doesn't work on campaign and if you do it on system link or XBL it will say "was killed by the Guardians"...but it will not count as your kill...

You have do do it really fast though if you want to do it correctly. It might also be to press x 5 times and then shoot.

I named my Profile after Guaronion, who gave me a P-Hat!

It doesn't happen when I'm on Xbox Live. It even happens when I'm offline and playing multiplayer.

Although this question is about exactly one year old (Halo 2 anniversary on last Thursday? I think?), I will answer it.

"The Guardians" are not some U83R c00L machine or elite poss� of devastating AI players, contrary to popular belief. In fact, you cannot be killed by another existing player to be killed by The Guardians.

The above statement is completely ridiculous and hasn't a shred of truth in it. First of all, there are no guardians in single player because in single player there is no text that reads "You were killed by...". That text only occours in multiplayer because of the custom names. Although I hate too, I'm going to go ahead and say it: DUH! ARE YOU [Expletive Deleted]ING BLIND?! Now that that's out of my system, I'll finally tell you what "The Guardians" is. (Yes that is singular [is], it's not just bad grammar.)

As I said, you cannot be killed by another player to be killed by the Guardians, with the exception of a few tricks that are used to manipulate the script that runs everytime a player dies. To be killed by the guardians, you have to be killed by some aspect of the environment, such as splash-damage, or an inconsistency in the game code (glitch). The most common way to respawn because of a Guardian-induced death is being blown through a wall, mountain, or the ground right as you are dying. This can happen for a number of reasons; you are in an abnormal area and a grenade explodes by your feet, you are splattered by a vehicle so forcefully that you actually defy the in-game physics and end up on the outside of a mountain, and others. Because of the rarity of a "Killed by the Guardians", there is not really a set list of how to be killed by the Guardians. It almost always happens unexpectedly and when you go back to try it again it never works, unless you find one of the quadrillions of tricks floating around the beloved WWW or on Xbox Live.

By the way, the "little flying robots that shoot you with beams and you die" are Sentinels.

On Halo2 usually found on Xbox live the term "Guardians" usually is associated with vehicles such as the non-player related deaths as demonsthenes said i have experienced it about 30 times on Xbox live im still not sure what the heck they mean but it sounds like some sort of Heavanly entity or something like that

The Guardians go as far back as Halo 1. Its happened to me many times, its not some kind of game glitch or anything, Bungie put it in there. In Halo 1 the only way I have been killed by The Guardians is when I blast someone in the face with the shotgun point blank, and it was almost always on Longest. It couldn't have been a player because Halo 1 names could only be 9 characters long and The Guardians is 13. I'm not sure if the shotgun is the only cause but thats the only way its happened to me. As for Halo 2, the Guardians are NOT the robotic flying machines, those are called sentinels. If anybody hasn't been killed by The Guardians and wishes to try it out, I have found a way to kill myself with The Guardians. On Zanzibar at the window you use to super bounce to the roof of the complex, use the other window beside it in the exact same way, instead of super bouncing you will go through the floor and get killed by The Guardians.

If it's something to do with vehicles, why did I get killed by the Guardians on Beaver Creek? We all know there are no vehicles on that level.

Listen up people, the guardians is a term used to defy who killed you. This term usually pops up if the engine cant decide who killed you.

Anything that is not a death by another player or yourself is counted as either just a death, "Nuindacilion has died" for example, or "You were killed by the Guardians"
