Nightshiver is actually trained to use those weapons. He'd beat you down easily.
On another note, I was thinking about taking up Pencak Silat Serak though. If you don't know what that is, just google it. It's basically a defensive weapons-based martial art though. One is taught hand-to-hand versus weapons defense, hand-to-hand no weapons skills, and weapon-to-weapon. I know a small bit about it, and it's very intriguing, but the nearest training facility is about 100 miles from here.
I have a big book on martal arts. It has a whole chapter dedicated to the weapons of the arts. I know what it is. Nightshiver may be trained, but I train my self, I practice 3 hours a day with a samurai sword. I imitate the moves of the old legends/classics. Even though you may not believe that I am grey not at with a sword. I am pretty badass. I may not be able to beat Nightshiver, or maybe I can. But if not, I can sure give him a run for his money.
But you should really get in to weapon on weapon. It is pretty fun. I love it more than hand to hand, but it is fun when on loses his weapon, then he has to change stance and everything, even his strategy. Once both lose there weapon the match gets really good because both people are raceing for there swords.
The supreme satisfaction is to despise one's neighbor and this fact goes far to account for religious intolerance. It is evidently consoling to reflect that the people next door are headed for Hell.
