Rasing money for death in a friend's family.

My friend's dad just died, his name was Kevin Liles. He was 47 years old. My friend just called me, asking me if I would buy his Playstation 3 from him. He normally wouldn't even come close to that idea, so I asked him why he would do such a thing. He told me he would sell it to me for $350...because that's all I've got to spend. He's really strapped for money, without anyone making much in his house now, and I really would appreciate it if you guys could come together for me, and help out my good friend. This is serious, and personal, but I was hoping you guys could help. RS GP and cash donations are more than accepted, and anyone who does donate, I will create a signature for you at the end of March if you wish. Here is my real mailing address, and my Runescape name. Thank you all.

Paypal:
jmadding@live.com

Runescape:
Mr Thieving

Mail:
Joseph Madding
1612 Pacific Avenue
Aberdeen WA, 98520
USA

RS GP will be sold at $5 per million USD. We can accept international currencies. Again, any purchases/donations are greatly appreciated.

I'm selling the character that created my name - She Mines It

This is a classic character, and all of the quests on RS2 are done. Here's the RS2 stats. She's wearing about 1m worth of things. 24 days of membership remain as of Feb 23, 2007.

Now, here are the screen shots I've taken for the active RSC account.

I would really appreciate at least $250 for this character, or 50M GP ($5/Mil). It's not about the stats, it's about the bills. They are going through enough already, I just want to be able to help them how I can.

Raised so far:

2 Million GP

$0

Mils available for sale:

2 Million GP

To Moderators: The Runescape aspect of this topic is just a possible option. Please don't move it to that area. We really do need help in raising money for our friend.

I"m being completely honest, and I don't know any other way how. I'm earning money, and I'm going to be giving it to him as soon as possible. If you think I"m lying about something serious as this, I'm shocked in you. He called me at 11 am today, saying this. "Hey, did you still want to buy a PS3?" I was like, "Yea, why?" He said to me, "You wanna buy mine?" I was all, "What, why? You need to pay a lot of bills this payday or something?" He just said, "My dad died last night, dude." I said, "...damn dude, I don't know what to say." I knew he needed money badly at this point, because his dad made what his mom and he made combined. This was the only thing I could think to do, and I figured someone here might find some way to help out of the kindness of their heart, not think I was doing this for personal gain.

You can't do that anymore. Ebay stops the auction after a day or two, when they notice, because Jagex has threatened to sue.

What other way is there? We all work at Walmart. They are already trying to do a fund raiser there...and it's not really coming up with what they need, at least from what I saw today.

It really doesn't matter if you're out of options. What you're doing is still wrong. You're beginning to sound like the hypothetical shoplifter with a family who can't pay for food in the old classic ethics debate.

I don't think this thread is moral at all.

If he needs to raise funds for his friend, he can just go get a decent job and give everything he earns for his friend. Not start begging. It's ridiculous. Begging is noobish.

Hes not begging. Hes asking if people wanted to donate or buy items from him. How is that begging? Plus, he has a job.

There is no such thing as "noobish" in the real [Expletive Deleted]ing world. Understand?

What if he he can't get a good job? What if he qualifies but he still can't get it due to some other problem?

This is a request, don't like it, stfu and leave. THAT was a demand.

I won't be able to do much more than mail a twenty Canadian all the way from up north... I need to pay for my soccer club dues...

And why don't some of you people have a little more faith? Whats twenty dollars really worth to you? I would rather mail it and have it scammed off me than having the thought on my conscious that I could've helped someone and didn't.

Thanks to those who at least support me in my efforts. And to the guy who thinks I need to get a job - I've not only got a job, but work a 40 hour week to support myself, and help my family already. I am going to give him $400 out of my pocket, but that's just not enough money. That $400 might cover electric and water for 1 month...but what about the other bills? Not only that, but what about the month after that. I'm holding a fund raiser for him in town, that I hope can get up at least another $600, so they can make it through the month.

If you still don't believe me, as if that matters, Kevin Liles was a CSM (Customer Service Manager) at Wal-Mart # 02037, and probably the best one we had. He died in a car crash on an overpass of a bridge, in which the car went through the barrier, and fell for about 250-350 feet before impact. He was over solid ground, as the overpass just sends you to an alternate main road in our town. Assumed dead on impact.

Wait, it just hit me...

Family and no life insurance at all? Not to mention any other family?

Another thing, these people are just taking this money? They don't have any pride? I'm not saying that's a bad thing but from what I know of American sub urban people, most people don't take "charity".
