American Holidays Can't Post

As you fellow Americans might know, people are getting distressed by people saying "Merry Christmas" so they tell them to say "Happy Holidays". Tell me, does it really matter? I think people are getting to sensitive nowadays.

Re: [jabman] American Holidays [In reply to] Can't Post

One question: do they greet "Happy Holidays" of the contrary of "Merry Christmas" because people with different religious beliefs are offended by everything seen or heard from Christianity / Christmas because they are politically correct pussies?

Everyone's sensitive about things. Christians about non-Christian stuff. Non-Christians about Christian stuff. And then things in their own personal experiences.

People suck. Being sensitive about something sucks. Just because your brother was aborted, doesn't mean that the whole idea of it in your entire country should be shot down. That's not gonna bring your brother back.

And seriously, just because there are some Non-Christian related stuff, doesn't mean that your child is gonna get brainwashed and convert to another religion.

And also of course, just because there are some Christian related stuff, doesn't mean that your friends and family are gonna turn Christian. That logic's stupid.

People need to learn common sense, and that the devil is not imaging up 90% of the world, everything you don't believe in.

No offense to your grandmother, of course.

When your philosophy teacher is an atheist and you're telling her goodbye after the final, it definately matters to tell her "Happy Holidays, Professor" instead of anything religious.

Not only political correctness - the fact that other religious minorities are causing Christianity to die in a neighbourhood? Imagine me screaming, "This is a place that has its main beliefs on Christianity. If you don't like our beliefs here then you can get out!"

Re: [jabman] American Holidays [In reply to] Can't Post

Every year in Canadian schools, the natives come. Oh crap, here come the natives. With their drums and feathers and smoke. Everybody in the school comes and fills a room, along with the smoke. Any student who doesn't show utmost reverence, while being told that the east winds and eagles are watching over them and seeing natives dance in chicken costumes, gets scolded. They all have to sit in that room listening to the repetitive drums and choking on smoke with the natives for at least an hour.

This of course is in the name of political correctness and the right of FREE speech and stuff.

Similarly, a small group of Christians used to come to schools every year and take about 5 minutes of time out of a regular class to unobtrusively give out FREE copies of the Bible.

They aren't allowed to come anymore. And any teacher who mentions the concept of God or anything that has any relation to popular religions is immediately at risk of losing their job.

Why? Because, people have different beliefs. It's not right for them to have to be exposed to something they don't believe. Right? Never mind the fact that natives are a minority and Christianity is the most popular in North America. It must be politically correct to let them tell everyone that God is a turtle but even giving awareness of any other belief is wrong.

Political correctness is not correct or fair at all. It seems to attack only one side. If we shouldn't refer to Christmas by its actual origin, why not any other holiday? If I don't want to hear "merry Christmas" on the radio because I'm "sensitive" about accepting the fact that it's Christmas, maybe I don't want see the Remembrance Day specials on TV because I'm sensitive about war. Whether people like it or not, it's what the holiday is about. It's almost as stupid as how people are trying to change the date labels "BC" and "AD" just because it relates to an event that obviously means a lot to Christians. No matter what they call it, they can't change the numbers and where they come from.

that Harry Potter was related to the devil.

...But actually anything related to witchcraft and stuff is, since it's an actual religion. Harry Potter is related to the devil in the same sense that Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is related to God.

Well, in that sense, you could make Harry Potter relate to the devil, but the only way to have something against it would be if HP is promoting the devil. And all I have to say to that is LOL.

Well, it could indirectly through popularity attract people to real-life witchcraft (and so could a lot of other things), but only to people who are desperate for beliefs and more confused than Oprah, like this stupid kid. But sadly there are a lot of people like that.

Re: [jabman] American Holidays [In reply to] Can't Post

I think this is a religion based problem. We greet our brothers and sisters from different religion by Happy Holiday so that we won't offend their beliefs and religion. In some cases its okay to greet them Merry Christmas but as we all know people have different perspective in religion. Some accept its as okay while other don't. So stick with the Happy Holidays greeting if you know that they aren't Christians.

Oh brother... who cares! Say whatever you want and if someone gives you a hard time just tell them to take a hike. Say Merry Christmas if you want or happy Kwanza or Happy God Day. We need to accept the fact that there are different religion in the world and learn to live in harmony... forget about being politicaly correct!

Hey, hey. All I laugh is why someone would actually become a Luciferian Satanist. I mean, I know it's not all doing drugs and killing people, that's the propagandic version, but still... Stupidity...

I mean, look at some stuff that site says:

Being politically correct is retarded...

Ok, first I would like to state that the term "political correctness" is retarded because politics screw up all the time. They make racial comments, slander, ect. So how is that being politically correct?

Now on a more related note, I think people need to get over it. When people say Merry Christmas, they are assuming that the person celebrates Christmas. If somone told me "Happy Holidays" I could just as easily get "distressed" about that as I would if somone said "Merry Christmas". What if I didn't celebrate any holidays? Either way, you could be politically incorrect and who gives a damn about that... If they are sooo distressed about people saying "Merry Christmas" as an attempt to greet somone then they can become a hermit and live 20 miles away from the nearest person so they won't have to worry about being greeted in the wrong way.

TazG... you stole my point. Although, we don't do the native thing.. we're all like omg LOL non-christians.

Christmas has lost it's "Religion". It's now, like easter, a commercial holiday. Almost all the non-christians I know, celebrate christmas. Hardly any of them care. But b/c some idiots are all "OMG IM OFFENDED" we have to be politically correct.
