Best leader of your country-past or present Can't Post

I live in American(stfu gre dork)

And for me it's between lincoln or Franklin Roosevelt.

Lincoln did FREE the slaves-but Roosevelt came up with the new deals, wich had lasting effects such as social security and the FDIC.

We are discussing best presidents here, not 'leaders who gain office, get the country into an unwinnable war, and then die.'

Either Washington, Lincoln, or FDR. All three had massive crises to deal with that could have destroyed the nation. Washington had to keep the nation together, set worthy precedents, and ensure that democracy would not be strangled in its cradle. Lincoln had to serve as President during one of the most destructive civil wars the world had seen at that point - 1 in 20 Americans died during the Civil War. FDR had to save America from the Depression and then lead it through World War II at a time when we had few allies and less hope of victory, when the Nazi armies had dominated Europe and were eying Great Britain, when Imperial Japan had bombed the Pacific Fleet into the mud and was taking over its Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere.

True, he did get us through the Cuban missile crises-but he had his share of crap ups.

:O You retard. True, he might not have been the #1, but he was the best at least #3.He did way more than just the Cuban crises, he started our space program and a lot of other stuff. You should be ashamed.

Hah, certainly not present. Bush guided us through a crisis, but he did it whilst he was blind himself. He's caused massive failure on multiple levels. I don't need to go further than that.

But I would really call all of the same here, save for one more people don't normally mention: Nixon. Nixon got the discussion between the US and China going, and with Russia. He was pretty strategic in his communications with both; and while he was overzealous for sure, and certainly his actions merit of loss of presidency, and conviction, he still did some undeniable good.

But he's certainly not the best.

Eisenhower. That's all I am going to say about that.

Kennedy is one of our better presidents, but he doesn't figure into my top three. Top ten probably yes, but not top three.
