Debate: Was Runescape Worth It	Can't Post

Don't Lie. Every single one of us played it at one point. Did you get anything out of it? I think it was extremely worth it. It taught me how (not) to act on the internet, was the reason I discovered FGF, and I had fun when I started because I had friends IRL who played it too. Believe it or not, I actually met a girl who lives in my area through runescape. Do you think it was worth playing the game?

Don't say no just because you think its dumb now. When you played it, wasn't it fun?

This thread is for those who actually played it. If you checked it out one time and never went back, this thread is not for you.

Sure. I only play it when there's nothing else to do, so otherwise I'd just be watching random [Expletive Deleted] on the TV.

For me RS was a double-edged sword.

The good was that it gave me my first real taste of intrawebz culture and helped me practice my people skills.

The bad is that I wasted countless hours just clicking away at some 2D figure, it's was mind-numbing, nothing creative, nothing to even practice hand-eye coordination. It was just dumb mind-numbing zombie work.

Overall I guess I kinda regret all the time I wasted on RS when I could've been doing something productive...

Definitely. I would not have done my younger life any other way. I done it with friends I actually know, and it sure was fun while it lasted.

I liked it when I played RSC. RS2 was a no-go for me.

Yep, RSC was pretty much the center of badass-ism. But RS2 appeals to me in different ways, and I continue to play, unfortunately. But I wish I was never introduced to Runescape.

Basically, these Runescape threads don't belong in debate.

Out of the one year I played, only about 3 hours total were good times. If you are going to play RS, you are going to have to play it with cool people. Those three hours I spent clicking around in Varrocks guard room picking up coins when I was a low level and didn't know how to play, with a friend. After that, it was all pretty meaningless...

Same as Skillz and xxsomethingxx.

It was fun while it lasted. I played with real life friends, and it was just awesome. Not to mention Andrew pelting me and others on AIM asking for suggestions during the first year of him taking over the game. Yay, RSC, but then RS2 came out and my friends kinda just left the game. I shoulda stopped there. So I don't feel any regrets before this point, because those were just for fun, and no one was hyped up by levels and stuff. But I do regret playing after this point (which was like, a year or so).

I started playing in 2001 and it definitely turned me web-savvy in the span of a few months. This was back when I had no idea what "lol" or "brb" meant or any of those. I remember selling all my armor and saving up like crazy to buy full rune. RSC was awesome and I don't think I'd be at this community without it, and, as whoever it was up there that said, RS2 appealed in different ways. I stopped playing way back in 2004 though.

I'm still playing it every now and then and when I play it, I enjoy it, but I have one question.

While i was on f2p i hated the community and the restrictions when i got members the community was much better, but i hated the always need for cash on it and level. They were always my restrictions.
