I once pondered: Why has God yet to curse us for making such terrible things, such terrible devices, as nuclear weapons. I then found my answer: They are, in themselves, the curse.

Actually I think that nukes and other WoMDs are a gift as well, a double edged sword.

They insure that countries don't go to war on a massive scale due to fear of Total Annhilation.

Nukes are an insurance, as long as religious fanatics and zealots don't get hold of them there's nothing to fear. And even if WWIII comes into reality it'll be fought with only conventional weapons. There's the possibility of it ending with Total Annhilation though...

Insure? When you are fighting against people who think if they die killing jews they will go to heaven and constantly state they have no care for this life what would stop them from killing themselves and everyone else?

You didn't read the second part.

But seriously, think about it.

If it weren't for Nukes how do you think the second World War would've ended? Think of the casualties from Operation Downfall. Then think about the aftermath. Look at all the wars-by-proxy during the Cold War. Those happened WITH the threat Total Annihilation. Imagine the scale of war that would've happened without the threat. There would've been a third World War already replacing the Cold War.

Nukes are a paradox.

Basically, based on what I believe I know, USA being involved with Iraq and other small countries has drawn attention from other countries who in turn have dipped their noses into our and Iraq's business. Thus, Iraq gets some sort of reinforcement from undisclosed countries. So now, we have all these different countries bombing each other and gaining allies to fight the rest of the world.

1. you had no buisness in iraq other then you wanted cheapier oil

Most of America agrees you moron. Do your research please. You should also know thats not what he was posting about, so don't change the topic to the lack of American military restraint.

I have bolded what i was replying too. he was saying that people should stay out of iraqa and USA + friends war but really there shouldn't be a war and we shouldn't be there.

Ofcourse you are now reading my sig

In that do you mean by causing destruction it contradicts itself?

Read mah posts pl0x.

I find the fact that nukes have such destructive potential yet save lives everyday to be paradoxical.

lol. What else is funny is that the U.S. has enough nuclear weaponry to blow the entire world 11.5 times over.

Yeah I think it's possible.

It may either branch off the war in Iraq, and happen after several years of peace later on.

I don't think so. A world war now could cause MASS life destruction. Eisten said something like this "I don't know how the third world war will be like, but I know how the fourth will be, it'll be with stones and bones" (poor translation from the portuguese version I heard). The governants of big powerful countries know that the weaponry available could kill the entire human race, so they'll avoid it as long as possible.

Remember what the question is "World War III a Likely Possibility?" It isn't "World War III, WILL IT HAPPEN" the answer is yes it is a likely possibility, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen.

I am but 1 person. What can 1 person achieve? I am going to find out.

World War III is very likely to happen. It can happen anytime . The question should be, " Are you prepared for World War III?" The world is in chaos, whether we like it or not. Every second , new weapons are discovered, implemented...hidden. You might not agree with me but someone out there is making a huge ROBOT that is made especially for World war III armed with massive nuclear bombs and all those stuff you can think of. Yes, World War III is going to happen and time can only tell when those guys will push the button to arm the bombs to protect their country and people. Wink

Re: [solidlion] Debate: World War III a Likely Possibility? [In reply to] Can't Post

World war 3 is NOT a likely possibility, the political leaders would not get involved with a war of such scale, world war 1 and 2 weren't fought with nuclear weapons.
So its different.
World war 3 would blow up like 7 countries worth of land if it happened.

It would be enough to kill every single human being on earth, but not enough to blow the planet. I read about this 2 years ago. If I remember well, it'd take uh... I think 10 thousand or million atomic bombs to destroy 4 inches of the planet's surface.
