Do living organisms other than animals know they are there? Can't Post

What I'm asking is, can a plant/fungus/protist, say... an Oak Tree, "know" that itself exists? Or is it just an automated living machine?

I think it does to some degree, but we will never know for sure unless somebody can turn into a plant.

Unless plants have like brain-like organisms in themselves, then no.

Sometimes I hold philosophical conversations with the plant growing within my pubes, but otherwise, no, I don't think any other plants know they exist. Billy is a special case.

Life has a scientific definition that is too specific to really be useful. Plants are technically alive, but not really.

Yeah, the difference between living organisms other than animals and animals themselves is that animals have a nervous system. Plants are living, but they have no idea what's going on around them.

Things without brains can't "know" anything

Except when you're talkin' about fetuses.

But yeah. Point is, plants have no brains. They have no consciousness at all. They are living, but only just.

End of thread.

Your post was good up until "Billy". What a stupid generic name :|
