He's right here though. If he wishes to believe in this religion, then he shouldn't be told to move it unless it was a clear disruption. That's hard to prove. A judge in one case where students wore armbands to protest the Vietnam war said that students don't lose their constitutional rights when they enter their school gates. This counts. If the school says it respects religious beliefs, than this student shouldn't of been suspended. It doesn't matter that the religion isn't 'normal' or widely believed, it's a religion. Anyone who claims it's not is wanting us to enter a very slippery slope: What exactly makes a religion? Then you start to get with discrimination of religions that seem valid, since you obviously can't get all aspects of religion into something like this. The kid kind of wimped out on us, though: He didn't wear the eyepatch when he got back to school. Lame. He should wear it anyway, if he really wanted to persue this, which basically means he doesn't. Eyepatches are no more a disruption than when we started bring retarded kids into normal classes. One of them got really bad mood swings, and would literally throw chairs at people. But since the state was wanting us to put mentally deficient kids in these classes, the school's hands were tied. This is obviously a lot less - a few chuckles at the beginning of class, and occasional pirate joke - but beyond that, it's fine.
