Net neutrality, your thoughts? Can't Post

For those of you who don't know what this is about, internet providers are wanting to limit peoples use on the internet and limit what sites they go to and the amount of time one can have on the internet. Rumors are they will charge either a monthly fee or they will charge by the GB/TB and time you spend on it.

What does everyone think of this? Do you think it will ever be passed?

For the sake of being clear, network neutrality is the idea that we should be able to operate FREE of restrictions of any kind within the network, which is in this case, the internet.

this has always been the case

they were doing that in the dial-up days, then stopped. Now people have grown so accustomed to not having to do this that it's too late to change it back. People will know they are getting ripped off, and other, less retarded companies will rise to power as a result. On the other hand everyone has been getting ripped off with phone services from the beginning but no one ever noticed. Instead they got caught up in this "save the internet" paranoia. I say get over it, the internet is far too huge to be controlled, ever, especially when everyone who's in charge of attempting it is old, out of touch, and has no idea what the hell they're dealing with. Honestly, implementing a global government and solving world hunger is a more realistic prospect than regulating the internet. It's the freaking internet.

Governments are always trying to control and make money off everything, the internet is one of the few things they can never control.
