BACK ON TOPIC: Im just not convinced of this whole alien from outer-space thing. Scientists have already proven that the closest planet with even the slightest possibility to have life on it is light-years away. One of the articles said the craft was estimated to be flying at 2600 km/h. That is no where near the speed of light. And even if the craft could travel anywhere near the speed of light, it would take hundreds of years to reach Earth. Lets do some maths: Lets take the newly discovered planet, Gliese 581 C. This is 20.5 Light-years way 20.5 Light-years = 193,000,000,000,000 (1.93x10^14) km Speed of air craft = 2,600 km/h Time to travel = 1.93x10^14 / 2600 = 74,230,769,230.8 hours / 24 = 3,092,948,718 days / 365.25 = 8,468,032.1 years So it would take 8 and a half million years to get to Earth at that speed? BTW: My sources have proved unreliable in the past. Theres other possibilites to consider: The craft could be capable of travelling at faster speeds. The planet could be much closer than 20 light-years way (Im not saying Gliese is the closest, its just the only one that I know of, which is why i used it as an example)
