Should FGF upgrade to a better forum software? Can't Post

vBulletin, phpBB, Influxplus

Should FGF upgrade?

Gossamer has served us well, and probably will continue to do so.

DUSCISSS.

Yes. I have the urge to copy and paste posts from the veterans forum, but I lack the willpower.

I would definitely put this in the Veteran's forum, but Jammer's never given in to us on this one. I simply don't believe he'll give in now.

No, not really. The question was 'should', not 'will'.

You know absolutely nothing.

But, at any rate, we have no software to move. If Jammer wanted to move us to vBulletin or phpBB then he'd have to delete this site and have everyone re-register, since there's no program that converts Gossamer to any other forum software, to my knowledge (though there is software that converts X to Gossamer). And obviously it's bad to have everyone register again because of impersonation.

So unless Taz makes us a program to convert the forum software, we're stuck with Gossamer. And even if he did, Jammer would never use it because he sticks to his authoritarian views like a moron, so we're still stuck with Gossamer.

vBullettin. It's the most secure that there is, and it's worth the one-time fee...

Try vBulletin. I'm surprised no-one mentioned Invision Power Board.

Doesn't make a difference to me, as long as I can simply make a post.

Yes, but as for suckage I was referring to the gumdrops, not your wrinkly-ass cooked rhubarb jewelsack.

Yes. My reason is that with gossamer you have to save pictures to upload them as your avatar. It sucks.

Better to save them, than to have to upload them to imageshack or something.

and, Heck. If the layout dosen't change, I don't care. So long as there are no image sigs *imagines the runescape section* and the colours don't go red and black (like this ) (fuXing emo's) I'm good.

THAT'S your main reason? I can't even begin to explain what I hate about Gossamer, even if it has seemed to be working decently lately. Just look at Athrin.

My main reason is because Gossamer sounds way to much like Go slam her which is an extremelly inappropriate slang for "Go have sex with her". Gotchaproblemman!??!

Nobody on this Forum is ever happy. Were not going to get an upgrade, theres no point in even discussing it. If we did get a new board software, you'd probably complain because it didn't have your favorite skin.

...well it'd be stupid to complain about that seeing as we'd have a feature set that would vastly improve upon Gossamer's; what it LOOKS like hardly makes any difference. When we changed to the blue theme here, people complained, we told them to sit down and shut the hell up, and they did once they realized that they couldn't win.

Speaking of Influxplus, you should really get that back up in all its glory and stop changing it around. FGF might be meeting its apocalypse sometime soon and we vets need a place to fall back to.

Yeah, I know. Instead of crafting my own forum software, I'm just going to FUBAR vBulletin. I plan on making a skin that looks like the old green FGF - for old times' sake.

Wait, green, one? Through www.archive.org, I've seen the classic blue, the less-classic-but-still-classic other blue, the weird yellowish one that was there when I came in (which was an awesome skin, by the way), and the current blue, which doesn't appeal to me that much but I'm not really complaining about it.
