That you take up 2 seats on an airplane, should you have to pay for them both?

Personally I think you should, but many argue that the obese, or the ones with disease are treated unfairly.

Please, obesity isn't a disease, it's a lack of self control/common sense. Eat good food and you'll be fine. Eat at McDonalds every day and you lose.

They should pay for their damn seats. Nobody wants to sit next to the fat guy anyways so charge him for 3. Good incentive to lose weight IMO.

Southwest requires people who don't fit in one seat to book two. Here, I found it on their website:

I personally think people with obesity problems have the power to control it, their just to fat and lazy to do so.

I think they should pay for the additional seat they occupy. Obesity is a choice in my opinion. I am obese but not to extend occupy 2 seat in an airplane. But I have a choice to reduce my size or not. If you like to be obese then don't exercise and don't stop eating. If you want to trim down then work on it. Tongue

Paying for two seats is 100% fair, why should I have to suffer being squeezed next to someone who could obviously loose a few pounds. There is some truth to heridity having to do with weight but no truth to it having anything to do with obesity.

I remember my dad telling me that he used to always pick the smoking section in the plane just to get away from the little kids.

first i agree little kids especially should be baggage, let them at the bottom of the plane where they can scream and play without annoying everyone else, also i agree they should have to book all 3 seats because it is disgustiong to sit next to them, it gets far to hot, and have you ever had one fall asleep on you?

Some people have diseases where food doesn't digest and goes straight to fat. And some people have eating disorders that they can't control because of brain problems.
My cousin has that problem, and she gets really pissed off when people say she's fat because she lazy and doesn't watch what she eats.

They have a disease. They should be working on the effects of that disease, if they want. They have a choice in the matter. If they don't want to, that's their choice - but the airlines shouldn't lose their money because of your disease or overeating or whatever problems you may have with your weight - if you take up two seats, you should pay for two seats. You can't go to a restaraunt and demand two meals because you're obese, and not pay for both of them; same goes with airlines.

It doesn't matter whether you have a disease or if you're just lazy and fat. If you take up two seats, you have to pay for two seats.

Now just imagine if your parents felt the same way about you?

If you take up two seats, then yes you should be charged for them. If you can fit in one seat, or your family sits in the same row as you then nope.
