The True Nature of Humans Can't Post

*I've looked through some threads that are similar to this one but figured that the core question is different enough for it's own post. If there is one just like this which I missed, point me at it pl0x*

Do you think that people are inherently good or bad? Moral or wicked? Or are they just defined by their circumstances and decisions?

For example, if there was no religion on our planet, would humans base their actions on greed and aim to better themselves at the expense of others? Would they work together to help each other instead of fighting over beliefs? Would it just depend on a person's environment?

What do you think?

Depends if you mean people as a whole? Some people are good and some are bad. This is determined by the environment the grow up in, and when they get to the stage of controlling ones actions and morals they pick and choose which set of morals they will abide by.

Concerning whether the they are defined by their circumstances and decisions? Well people can act and think differently to their morals and beliefs when they are under the the influence of peers, drugs or alcohol (anywhere it fits! in your arm, in your nose, in your mouth, in ....other places! Anywhere!) or the general environment. These effects decisions, actions and thoughts of people, whether for the good or bad. And they don't get to choose their family, where they live or the actions of there families so people shouldn't get defined by these, but I think there is an aspect of our modern culture that judges individuals by what they wear, listen to, do and who they hang out with. These aided by the media is changing our nature to do the best in our own interests. Which leads to the next part...

For example, some people don't believe that there is religion and base the actions on what makes them feel good and become greedy and self-centered. So what you said is true. But if there was no belief systems at all in our world at all I think that this world would be worse than it is now by far! (yes is said worse than it is NOW) People find that if the base their life on a general guidelines they get further in life and "reep what they sow", if you know the phrase.
But all religions (some can correct me) base glorification, worship and praise on things that aren't yourself! So that the person acts, think and makes decisions to benefit there "god".(Christianity is slightly,

What is moral and immoral, good or bad?
Humans are 100% products of their environment when it comes to morality.
According to religion, everyone is bad because NO one can live up to their insane rules.
As an anti-heirchist, I say the only thing that is "bad" is excercising power over someone unwilling.
But, nothing is objectivly bad or good.
But, in general, people have, no matter how sick their environment, usally inclined not to harm others.
However, people are inclined to be sexually "immoral", however, soem people now realize there is no such thing as sexual morality.

So when your family member is bleeding and being rushed to the emergency room, and you feel smug, your still not evil? Not a bug on the worlds windshield? How is that not "bad". Or are you saying that there are anomolys to your perfect world where nobody wishes harm upon another?

Neither bad nor good. They only have bad caracteristics, wich makes people look bad, but no, I see things diferently. The problem is that people are each day becoming more selfish (Understand this, I'm not talking about all 7 bi humans on earth, I'm talking about most of humans). And because they are selfish, they won't help others, they won't help each other. I mean, damn, why won't a multi-[Expletive Deleted]illionaire donate some of their money to people that need? I'm not talking about bill gates, I'm not talking about famous celebritys, I'm talking about the unknown millionaires, the not-famous but rich people. That's what's wrong with people imo, they are too selfish.

All in all, we are inherently evil. If it's not the case, then why...

... do we slow to a crawl on high speed highways just to look at accidents - not to help, God forbid that we go out of our way to help someone, but to see if there's any blood to be seen and to take a picture of?

... do we laugh at other people's misfortune (even if it's self-inflicted like stupidity) instead of trying to steer them in the right direction to prevent further misfortunes?

... are the shows/movies that involve the gruesome deaths of the characters considered quality entertainment?

... do we hunt for sport?

... do we play GAMES that involve the hunting/shooting/killing of other human beings (Not counting war based GAMES)?

... do we love seeing the news when it involves the deaths of people and could care less about the rest?

... is the training of learning how to kill a human being considered the "in" thing (martial weapons training, gun ranges, lethal martial arts)?

Answer? We're evil. This is universal, people. It's not just a select few - it's everybody, save for like, one percent of the world's population. This is like reflex - we just automatically do it.

No, I'm not gonna play the winged idiot with the halo and say that none of that applies to me. I just no longer fight it anymore.

Jump out of bed as soon as you hear the alarm clock!! You may also find it useful spending five minutes each morning saying to yourself "Every day in every way I am getting better and better."

Yes, but we are not all born with that.
I lived in an Amish community, well made up of many at least, when I was younger and the children their didn't know what "[Expletive Deleted]" ment at the age of 14 when I said it after tripping.

I don't believe humans are born of sin yet into sin.
