What is a Debate?

Can't Post

After looking some of the threads, some people don't understand the true meaning of the word 'debate'. Some people think it is just to discuss in a matter other than sharing opinions. But it is not. Here are some finer keys in what your thread should at least contain: At least an attempt to hold a formal discussion. A public question. Try and involve opposing viewpoints. It is good that we all don't agree one just one thing. That would make this debate forum so incredibly boring. Don't go as far as spamming and flamming other people because their viewpoint at a particular subject is different from you. That's immature. But although it's good to get in an argument about the topic but don't go thrashing the other person like they do in the Runescape Forums. Don't go making a thread about cheese or sex. Put at least some thought into your debate because if your not at least somewhat passionate about your thread than it belongs in the General Forum, not in here. What better describes the word Debate? You need two sides that can be argued. Not just one and a subject opposing your view points. Many people make threads about the following topics: Racism "What is better" Threads Now i'm not saying the people that made all of these threads are bad, they would just need to know it's not really a debate; just more of a bland discussion. Which should just be in general forums.
