I think WoW is way to expensive. Y would you pay around 30$ to buy the game then 15$ a month? outragous. I think ill stick with paying 5$ a month for RS. Everyone post what you think

Not too expensive, just a slight waste of money.
Some might say that the money put into it is money spent on having fun, but it's just a game.

Hey, Blizzard has to pay for server space and their employees.

Jagex gets paid to release some halfassed updates every now and then.

Blizzard has a strain of 8 million people on the WoW servers. Plus a couple million others on Battle.Net. That adds up. 15 bucks a month is plenty to cover that.

Runescape isn't even worth 5 bucks a month.

It seems that all the Runescape playing idiots tend to bash WoW or think that WoW sucks, or they play it for 10 minutes and go back to Runescape because they don't have the patience to level to the point where the game's good.

This thread sucks.

When is $5.00 too much for a graphical game? I can think of much worse...

(Optional) $10.00/month for a Drugwars online game - text based

(Optional) $5.00/month for Hobowars - text based with really crappy spelling and glaring grammar errors

(Optional) $10.00 for AdventureQuest - Flash game with graphics that the 3rd grade art class came up with and a storyline worse than your everyday porn movie.

$15.00/month for Everquest - You have to not only pay for the subscription, but have to pay for every expansion they come out with - you can't play without the newest expansion

Then again, you can play most of the GAMES for FREE, so what's the complaint? Sure, WoW is a bit on the expsensive side, but guess what? You download the major updates, not buy them as "Expansions"

Can you imagine having to pay $20.00 for Onyxia's Lair, Blackrock Mountain, Naxxaramas, Molten Core, and whatnot? EQ did that...

Wait what? Did they change the price? There weren't 8 million people playing when it first came out but it was still 15 dollars right? And once servers are up and running, you don't have to keep paying for them. They just need to pay the workers. But so does any company, of course. I'm not saying $15 is too much, I'm just saying your argument sucked, like most of the ones in this forum do.

Anyway, if $15 is too much and $5 is fine for Runescape, that means Runescape is less than 3 times worse. Considering the fact that Runescape lacks about 85% of what is to be expected in a modern game of its genre, I would say that it's at least 6 times worse... which means $5 is twice the price it deserves.
Besides Makeover Mage, what outstanding, unique, innovative features does it have that make it worth another $2.50 a month?

Runescape is too expensive to play.

Blizzard still owns, they have multiple great GAMES while all Jagex has is a pretty crappy one.

well actually i played WoW for 10 days and i still didnt like it... I guess its worth 15 dollars...but i think its too much...i can make 3 accounts on RS members for the price of 1 account on WoW.
Considering on that one WoW account you can have quite a few characters (I am not sure if there is a limit, but I think it's more than three), and on RS you have to pay 15$ for 3 characters, and some of those characters won't even be played for the normal time you get out of 5$.

At first i hated paying for online GAMES, my opinion was why pay for a game i have already bought.

Until i came across two of the great GAMES that require subscriptions.

World of warcraft, worth every penny if you like the raiding and the NPC grinding.

Eve online, £9 a month and its an ever expanding universe were all expansion packs are FREE, plus you can do anything in that game its unique and i would pay £50 a month to play it.

in my opinion these GAMES charge too little for the great experiences they offer.

It's 10 to a realm and there's a LOT of realms. All those characters for $15. That's not bad. Like Athrin said, most people don't have the patience to level. Yeah, it may get boring, but you can get on an alt character for a while then go back to leveling your main. It's not that hard; you're just impatient. The beginning of your leveling is boring, but it gets funner - trust me. Smile

I statrted as a Runescape playing idiot, and I still am. However, I FREEly admit WoW is a MUCH better game. I only play RS, because WoW won't run on windows 98.

Because WoW is such an exspansive game that if it were to be hosted online...well, it couldnt. too much information going in and out. A complex game needs a complex game engine, which runs of the many servers. 15$ a month gets you a huge staff working 24/7 for your game. And if you are willing to pay five dollars for runescape, why not just save what you saved three times over and play WoW? Again, its to big to just 'download', so discs are nessecary. Plus the fact that it requires monthly payments cracks down on most of the idiots who just go on at school, like runescape.

Well remember that when it was released, WoW would have to generate enough money to gain a profit from all the money spent developing the game, paying all the modelers, renderers, programmers, system designers, etc.
