Will humans ever biologically evolve? Can't Post

From what I understand organisms evolve to better fit the environment but humans can change the environment to fit them. I think they will never significantly evolve.

(Note:I would write a big long thing but, I thought I wouldn't because it is not needed)

Due to the changes we made to the environment, we will cause ourselves to go nearly extinct. Lol.

And then there was silence.

Re: [Papa Smurf™] Will humans ever biologically evolve? [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok, anyway.

In a way it's true that evolution is a function of environment and that humans can, to a degree, control their environment, but that doesn't mean that all genes get passed on with equal likelihood. Still, I stick too my orginal view.

Extinction is not a form of evolution.

Does that mean we have to carry that fucking flower on our backs the whole time?

Other than that it could be cool.

dood god made us the way we are and evolution doesnt exist its just a way for atheists to lower peopls beliefs in god so that they can win something that we arent exactly sure about but anyways no i dont think humans will evolve since evolution is clearly wrong to begin with

Yes. We're evolving even as we speak.

But we won't make any leaps and bounds in terms of actual "better" evolution.

To evolve and become more "advanced" the concept of Survival of the Fittest must be in effect, in modern day society however that concept becomes moot as almost everyone(whether they have "better" genes or not) has a chance to pass on their DNA.

That's probably what will happen.

Instead of the smartest and "better" people becoming more common there will probably be more people with "player" or "slut" or "carelss"(no birth control) characteristics.

Just look at society today. In order to actually "proceed" the smart and "better" people are the ones that should have the most prodigy. That isn't the case.

But I do believe that gene therapy and other means of artificial DNA modification will become a reality (GATACA anyone?)

The sad thing is there are too many people who are like that because most of the media entertainment is all about that so most kids who just come home from school and turn on MTV are exposed to that daily and think its cool

Hopefully Humans will magically evolve to breathe in CO2 (Carbon dioxide) and breathe out O3(Ozone). But realistically, it would be wonderful to learn the ability to utilize our entire brains, like savants, and be able to remember entire phone books.

Realistically,we will probably all die before any new evolutions could be progressed into. If we live past the next few centuries, humans might lose muscle mass, but increase in brain capacity.

bye.

I doubt that because of my aforementioned reasons.

Well, it's true that Humans change the environment around to make it adapt to them. However, we're also working on a way to make ourselves smarter, stronger, more healthy, and other improvements VIA genetic experiments. Hell, we're trying to evolve ourselves.

Failing that (If), I'll get around to the quesdtion after the first worldwide nuclear war. I'm sure we'll be "evolving" in MANY different ways!

Thats true, but I was thinking about that, sometimes we don't always change it positively, therefore, my whole arguement no longer has any meaning.

Eventually we'll be made of plastic and have outlets in our hands to play Electric Guitars all the time, and red will be the most common hair color.

Actually we already are. Ecological races, like White, Black, Asian, people happen among animals too, and is the first step toward speciation.
