Uh yeah. I use IE for general surfing; Firefox is a pig on memory, and a virus got through one of my addons. I might use firefox once in a blue moon just to use the GoogleSpace addon, the 2.5gigs is kinda useful.

For older PCs, I'd use Internet Explorer 5 (I'm talking Pentium at 266MHz with 64MB of RAM). Loads almost instantly, while Firefox takes forever. Of course there are other memory-efficient browsers, like Dillo or OffByOne OR, my personal favorite, IE 1.5 (pwn).

Yeah, I am using 5.

Oh, cool story.

I am kinda known as the family computer geek, so my aunt had me come over and backup all of her pictures, address books, documents etc and transfer and set-up her new one (Athlon64 X2 4000 200GHD 1G RAM Nvidia 6150LE *drools*). SO like, I set 'er up, get her e-mail working, de-crapify the trial programs and download the Office programs, set up her webcam and configure her 26 inch monitor. Not trouble, she likes my speed so much she gives me the old one! 1 ghz processing, 11GB HD, and 256 MB of RAM!!! I am now in the process of buying more RAM, and she is good to go. And once I get money for my birthday, I use the last of my working dollerz to get a new video card, and SHE-BANG! Better than what I have now Laugh

Good for you. Format the hard drive on your old compy and set it up as a slave drive in your new one. Then at least you have 21GB. I'm supposed to be building some PCs for my aunt and her friends, but the parts are at my mom's job and I have to wait until she somehow decides to bring them home. I'll probably have all of 'em (four) up and running in a day. Then I get paid the big stuff. Woot.

Actually now that I think about it, I only use 3 of the 11 installed addons. I use Mouse Gestures, Gspace, and the switching the firefox rendering engine to IE inside firefox... Ironic. Other than that, I get a lot of Script not loading errors, causing me to wait an additional 15-30 seconds per page. Why does everybody like firefox so much?

EDIT:

I have to send most of files by means Gspace first, I may only have 15 gigs, but it's 15 gigs of gold! Tongue

You mean IETab? I love that, but I can't see what people like in Mouse Gestures. I use about 20 extensions and that's the main reason why I like Firefox; otherwise there'd be nothing stopping me from using a more space and memory-efficient browser -- Firefox Portable takes up around 50MB with all of my extensions and bookmarks, and right now I have to make do with a 256MB flash drive (can't complain at $10, though).

I like just being able to move the mouse half an inch and new tabs popping up, closing tabs, zooming in on pictures etc. On the add-ons thing, I was thinking about either making the FGF Mod Tools a Firefox Add-on, or make it a script for Greasemonkey.

Having it as an add-on is a cool idea. Taz should make it open-source too.
