Any guitarists here? Can't Post

Been bored all week, finally picked up my guitar again. Got it tuned and I realized I still don't have a clue as to how to play this thing. I have tabs, just need to know what to do with them. And I kind of need a mentor, any takers?

:O
Tabs are pretty easy..
Just think of each line as it's corresponding string.
For example -
E----1--0--2
A----3--2--4

These would be power-chords on your first two strings, E & A.
So for the first chord, you would take your fingers and place them on the [F note on the E string] and the [C note on the A string].
Together they form a version of the 'F' power chord.

That explanation might be a little confusing, but it would be easy if you got a tab for a song that you know well, and mess around with the tab until you get the general idea of what to play.

^That video may also help to grasp the basic ideas of a tab, although the kid presenting it goes a little fast for new guitar player.

:D first post in a long time.

Practice scales, seems lame for a while, greatly improves your overall guitar performance in the end. Learn the basic chords and their respective minors and practice switching between them. Learn what a power chord is and learn to bar with one finger flawlessly.

You'll be able to play pretty much any song.

I am finishing up writing a song with my band where the whole verse is tremolo picking. Once you get it down, it's all too easy.

If you really want to learn how to tremolo pick just start with some basics, learning how to alternate pick first and slowly working your way into tremolo.
E|--------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------|
G|--------------------------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------|
A|----0-2-3-5-3-2-0-2-3-5-3-2-0-------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------|

then move it around a bit

E|--------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------4-5-7-5-4-------------------------|
D|---------3-4-6-----------6-4-3-------------------|
A|---2-3-5-----------------------5-3-2-------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------|

first do it single strokes, and then as you learn to alternate pick go into tremolo slowly and then aggressively and relentlessly. Like sex, but with a guitar.
