A 757 and a jet fighter have more in common than you realize, infact, it's easier to fly a 757 closer to the ground, they're commercial aircraft, not military, meaning there's more going towards being economical and comfortable, not to mention safer and easier to fly. A fighter jet on the other hand is aerodynamicaly unstable, that's why they're so manuverable. Flying them is much harder than a flight sim or a flying a commercial jet. Under minimal power a commercial jet could make a crash landing of somewhat safe scale, however a fighter jet immediatly starts to tumble and flip the moment the pilot loses control. As for the hole? Again, you're talking about an object traveling at 500+ MPH. And how long is that thing? Imagine that 100+ foot steel bar crashing into a building, and since it's a reinforced building made out of strong materiels the wings and the outer airframe would be disintegrated first. It would protect the main fuselage which would go on crashing through walls.
