Guitar Help. Can't Post

I need your help choosing a guitar.
The Epi G-400 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-G400-Deluxe-Electric-Guitar?sku=512586
Or The Ibanez http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-?sku=519786
Just wanted your input.

The basic difference is really gonna be in the tone, and I guess whether or not you want a whammy bar thrown in.

I agree with Pheylan. If you want a more metal sound, get the Ibanez. Of course you can use it for other things as well, but Ibanez is mostly used in metal and jazz (but those are the hollow-bodied ones they use in jazz).

And then there was silence.

better idea....

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Les-Paul-Studio-Electric-Guitar?sku=518351
MEOW! Epiphone Les Paul Studio..
both of the guitarists in my band rock the Les Pauls (one of them actually uses the Epiphone instead of the Gibson.. he just put some new tuners and some Seimore Duncan pickups in it and its just as good as the Gibson model)
its a classic and timeless body shape that, with the right set up, can be used for ANY genre of music

btw... if you get the Vintage Sunburst Les Paul... i'll cream myself and fly out to your place to jam with you because very very soon i'll be getting this:

we could be Vintage Sunburst buddys!!!!!!!!!!!

and if i get it from and set up by the Gibson shop in Nashville... it'll only run me around $2550!!!
super stoked.. i was already there a month or so ago and played the one they had set up.. plays lioke a dream.. so i might fork out the extra cash and have them make me one at that factory.. because i love the work their techies do ^^

I have an old Ibanez, which is very similar to that one, it totally kicks ass, my second favorite next to the Peavey I got just a while ago.

i can't tell the difference between a 800$ guitar and a 5000$ guitar.

and yet i find there to be a noticeable difference between 128kbps mp3 and 192kbps, etc.

Re: [Senor Kasaki] Guitar Help. [In reply to] Can't Post

lol i couldnt either.. but the more im around them the more i find differences..

like an SG standard doesnt hold its tuning nearly as well as an SG supreme...
and les paul customs have a thinner, smoother neck than the les paul standard..

as far as gibson vs epiphone.. you can make an epiphone almost as good as a gibson by changin everything in it.. in which case you might as well just get the gibson for the higher wire and wood quality.. esspecially the fret board materials.. nothing compares to the solid sound you get from an ebony fret board

as far as my bass goes... that Gibson Thunderbird IV above give absolutly NO fret buzz.. while my Fender Standard Jazz bass gives a little on the low E string when its tuned down to D and played on higher frets..

when it comes down to it... for a casual guitarist/bassist.. the differences between the $800 models and the $5000 models dont exist... but for professional musicians that rely on perfection of sound to make a living... those tiny suttle imperfections in sound shine through brighter than the stuff you want to have heard and overall bring down the quality of the song which is suicide for a band... so we have to fork out the $5000 for our instruments if we ever want to have perfection in our music Smile
