I've had an epiphany. Can't Post
So until this morning I've been really anti-rap. In my mind, rappers were yelling at you rather than singing, and that it was a fad that would just die out. I mean, I never saw the pleasure in a black guy covered in tattoos telling you how he bitched something or how he got arrested, but to the modern generation rap is the epicentre of the musical universe.

So anyway, today I torrented Hilltop Hoods - Hard Road Restrung. It's pretty much rap but with a 31 peice ochestra in it. It's pretty insane. In my mind, anyway.

So anyway, here's a song.

edit: don't actually watch the video; it sucks. Just listen to the song.

Some rap songs arent bad, ones that are contravertial, and talk about life. Not ones about drinking in the club and hooking in with 100s of chicks.

Rappers like Soulja Boy should DIE.

Rap is like any other genre in that there is music you'll like and music you won't, unless you're just set on hating it all. Don't let people give you a list of rappers that are good and tell you that any other rappers are shit because frankly, it's all up to you. I can find entertainment in some seriously commercial rap, and I can find the same thing in some very underground type shit.

I am glad you've started your journey to being more open-minded. If you like strings instruments with a hip hop flavour in them, then definitely check out these guys:

I don't see how this is different than every other rap song: talentless crap polished up by adding someone else's music in the background. This is as bad as Stronger. Try listening to other music with a 31 piece orchestra in it before you decide that you aren't anti-rap.

Music loses its appeal among those who understand what the composition of a good song is when it ceases being inspired, and the motivation of its creators is self-benefit.

Take, for instance, Guns'n'Roses. They started out making Appetite for Destruction with classics like this. Fast-forward 20 years, and you have Axl Rose snorting coke and making crap like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isrJOgYE3V4.

The majority of rap now days is the same, a deep voiced guy singing in the background and the same repetitive beat. There are some good rap songs, but the majority fail. If you think about it, rock / alternative uses the least bit of slang in their music, compared to rap or country.

Stronger was bad. But you should check out some other Kanye West songs. All Falls Down. Gold Digger. Those were great.
