It seems like a good show. but, I can't watch it. You have to watch it for a long time to understand whats going on.

If you must ask what is great about Star Trek, you will probably never know.

Star Trek definitely changed TV forever, and, very possibly, humanity.
If you don't like Star Trek, you just don't get it.
It has survived longer than any TV series ever, and it cannot be stopped. Star Trek will live long and prosper.

No, my young, un-enlightened friend, Star Trek predates Star Wars by about 10 years, and the purpose behind Star Trek is very different than Star Wars. Star Wars is, basically, purely action. That's the main point of Star Wars. Whoosh, Bzzt, Zap, Pow, Booohooom.
And you can hardly call Star Trek "cheap" compared to Star Wars. Just consider this - Star Wars is a series of 6 movies. Star Trek is 6 TV series and 10 movies. So far.

I saw a movie, and I thought it was pure crap. Stupid teacher wouldn't let us sleep in class, so we had to watch the crap movie.

I loved Star Trek as a kid, but I can't stand the TV show anymore. The movies are still good, but I can't get enough of the action of Star Wars.
