Problem With My Brake Light

I go out this morning to ride my bike to Rolling Thunder and through my normal pre-ride check I found that my brake lights are stuck in the 'on' position all the time. I did what checking I could, but could find any obvious reason for the problem. I did note that there is a 'beep' sound when I turn on the key and I don’t recall hearing that before. I hate to have to get a trailer and bring the bike to the dealer to look into this. I also hate the idea of having to leave it there for a few days for repairs (The good news is that I have BMW roadside assistance). I obviously can't ride the bike without operational brake lights. Any guess as to what could cause this and what I can check??
