RPM Speed for an R1200RT when idling

A question for any and all R1200RT experts.
What is the normal inactive speed (rpm), when you turn on your bike?
I am asking because mine fluctuates between 1050 - 1250, as opposed to sitting stable at what I think is a lower (normal) rpm. I just feel that there is a problem here. There have been times when my Bmw sits steady at 1300 rpm when idle.
Is this kind of fluctuating idle speed normal with this BMW model?
I would appreciate any ideas / input.
