     World Cup 2006

So...Who will win the World Cup Hosted in Germany in the Summer of this year? No patriotic neccesity needed just post who you truly think will win and who will be the international stars to shine on the worlds biggest stage?
Personally, I do think it will be England who will lift the cup, I live in England but am Welsh and so have an instant dislike of myself for predicting this but i cant lie to myself and everyone else for too long as they really stand a chance! Lets hear it from.............now.

Just you and me syncth so far it seems! You not worried about the potential lack of firepower if owen and rooney get injured! Crouch and Defoe (who are likely to go) aren't the hottest strikers in the world! Compared to the likes of Brazil, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho backed up by Adriano and Robinho, and Argentina with Crespo and Tevez, backed up by Messi and Saviola (among others!) the big man and short man of england shale in comparison!

Crespo sucks he can't get a place in chealsea, Ronaldo sucks he is leaving madrid, Robhino sucks i bet if you stare at his legs they will break. Crouch can header Defoe can run A.J has both rooney is deadly.

Crespo has proved to be a bit of a waste of 17 million for Chelsea but you can't waver his past season's so easily aswell as his international record, especially with the potential playmakers they have in their ranks. The same goes for Ronaldo, despite his form and current weight(!) you can be sure he is capable to pop up and knock one in at a vital time and don't knock Robinho too, he's another who could turn a match with one twisting run! I wouldn't say crouch can header per se, he seems to spoon it away from the goal for a centre forward who is over 150 ft tall! I'm guessing that you mean Andy Johnson when you say A.J?

Everyone said that in 1998.

They did get to the final and were beateen by one of the greatest World Cup teams in recent history. If your star player is mis-firing and you still manage to get to the final...thats not a bad result! The current form of the main Brazilian stars (excluding Ronaldinho) is more of a problem than the selection front!

France did win in '98. a young Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet supported by figureheads of the game such as Zidane, Deschamps, Desailly and Blanc. All good players but when they played at home in that World cup and the subsequent European cup they romped home with the goods, funny how they cannot find the same form at the moment! Shame for the French good for everyone else!

Just stateing facts! They were lucky to have got into the World Cup with their pathetic performance in the qualifiers, From what im aware of Trezeguet isn't exactly setting Turin alight at Juventus and the same for Giuly and Zidane in Barcelona and Madrid respectively. Thierry Henry had better be on his very best form in order to drag them through the tournament!

Guily scored for barcelona in champion's league, but that was thanks to ronaldino.

A short and sweet reply there i see! Back to Giuly...from what im aware of he is struggling to get first team action at the moment...isn't Deco keeping him out of the side?

england has no chance. rooney is injurd. and there counting on michael owen. who didn't even have a first place position in real madrid. and hasn't played since december.
defoe isnt bad but rio ferdinad really is there weakest link. crouch crouch crouch... he may be tall but he is very inconsistant and almost always ofside.
i but my money on Argintina

Don't put down the chances of England so quickly! Rooney is out but may make the later stages and the despite the hype, Rooney isn't England. Stevie G is playing amazingly this year, Lampard is Chelsea's top scorer and the top scorer for England in the qualifiers. Crouch maybe ridiculed but he happens to do the job with 19 goals this year. Hey, im no England fan, far from it, but i still think they stand a chance! A damn good one at that!

I dont think England will win it... Even if we did have Rooney and a 100% fit Owen we still wouldnt have much of a chance. Unsure But id like us to win

I never said they would put Rooney in the squad when it gets to the later stages, i said he may make it as in being fit, and yes the squad has been selected but it hasn't been finalised yet, Sven still has until early June to make any changes and it is easily worth the risk to take Rooney as a possible player. You have to remember that there is a 23 man squad and i cannot remember in recent memory any team that used all 23 men in one tournament. Rooney is apparently making good progress too, a player in the championship (who's name escapes me) recovered from the same injury in a record time of 4 weeks, with the use of the oxygen tent he could easily do the same.

They didn't take darren bent instead theo walcott, lol.

Crouch can take rooneys place with his height and commitment along with his good head (which we saw in argentina).
