Ok, I've been seeing a deal of "He scammed me" threads lately, and I may have the solution for it. DTA Policy which stands for Don't Trust Anyone Policy. I run a strict DTA policy, which means, obviously as I've stated, I don't trust anybody. It can be cool to trust your friends sometimes, but what happens when they scam you? There's a lot of different people out there who will be your friend for a minute and the next thing you know, they are borrowing your items, rares, and even accounts! So one day you don't receive any of your stuff/accounts back and now you're mad. Hmm. Maybe you should have used the DTAP? You do not have to use this, it's just advice that some of you can use to avoid losing your pixels. I'm not saying that you should call your friends potential scammers, which is what we all are but, try to limit how much you lend to friends and if they persist on "borrowing" more cash or items, cease it.
- You do not have to use this if you know you're going to let your friends borrow items anyways.
- It's still recommended that you don't share accounts.
- Try not to buy into the bogus stories that people can tell you sometimes. Just carry on with your everyday Runescape lifestyle and they'll get over it.
- This is just a tip. Do not take it too seriously to the point where you've become completely on no-talking basis with your closest runescape friends.
Like, I said, you do not have to follow this, it's merely a tip. It can/will save some of you the agony of knowing your hard work is gone down the drain due to scammers. Ways to tell if a friend is trying to scam you:
- Always asking to use account. Constantly begging to use account or borrow items.
- Always begging for FREE stuff, or saying they will pay you back. (90% of the time most so-called "friends" don't even bother to pay you back. Although, there are some very loyal and honorable players who will pay you back eventually)
So, in conclusion, just know who you are dealing with when you decide to loan your items, gp, or account out to people. If at possible, do not lend your main account period. Topics about "getting scammed", "he's a scammer", "omfg haked", etc. will be immediately locked by the moderators, unless the person being accused is a moderator, since Runescape Category moderators will be demodded if found to be using FGF to scam.
