Invidious you seriously fail. Here comes a long post...
I've learned this stuff in Sociology. Fads and trends are a part of society, and their comings and goings are part of the ebb and flow of life. Old fads get boring and new ones arise to replace the gap. It's a cycle.
But the problem here is that all I see you doing is trying to abolish ALL fads and trends. I might understand your buttsecks example, but the TazG fad is a fairly new one.
If you know so much about Sociology, you should know that it's not going to improve. Think about how this community was formed and where it's going.

I agree that fads happen in a cycle, but that is not an excuse to lack almost all originality. I don't want to abolish all fads. One time Nova tried starting fad threads. It was a cool idea. FGF ruined it. In fact many things he tried were ruined by these stupid unoriginal ninnymuggins. So now he just posts quotes and lyrics. The fads we're dealing with now are like a year old or more. Including the "TazG" one. People thought that including my name in something automatically made it cool or funny.
I'm not saying fads should always die fast. I mean, if I sat down here at work one day and noticed that my mousepad said All your Base are belong to Us, I would laugh, or something. But the fads we have here stopped being cool after like, a month. Or a week. Or sometimes after the minute they started. They just suck. And even if they don't necessarily suck, people make them suck by the retarded way they respond to them.
The trendmakers and original people have always been outnumbered in society and over time you learn to accept that.
Again, I'm not saying fads are bad. But usually you need to take more than 10 seconds of thought in posting something even when you're following a trend, otherwise it's stupid.
Look, I've been to a lot of forums. They all have fads. And I think that's a good thing. But this one is the only one I believe is hopeless. In a forum which isn't hopeless, the trendmakers are actually creative / funny / interesting. The society here is like an unsupervised nursery.
Like, look at the fat Asian kid that got edited a hundred times. That was basically a fad, right? But the people who edited it still needed to think of something original and be creative to make those edits. See what I'm saying?
Asking people to be original is hopeless(as you've made clear) however original people like you and (hopefully) most of us Vets are here to supplement that void.

These people are worn out by the stupidity. And they are too outnumbered. You seem to think we can just ignore idiots, but it's impossible. They derail or shift focus away from any good thread and stuff. And to make matters worse, some moderators cater to these people without realizing it. If what you say is right, it would mean that if all these people disappeared we would be left with a good forum. Not really. What we would have is a dead forum.
I guess the point I'm really trying to make is that you should try and make up for it yourself
Sorry, man... the more you talk, the more stupid you sound. Just remember that you have not been here since two months ago, and even then you were inactive, and before that you had a couple other breaks several months long. Not only have you been inactive, you have never been a moderator which requires me to review literally every thread, including the multidude of threads that you don't see because they're so stupid I have to delete them. And consider the fact that Nightshiver is also among the many who agree with me, and he has been an active member for almost 3 and a half years.
Saying that I haven't done anything to make up for it is by far the most ignorant thing you've said so far.
I now know that it will never improve. I posted this because I felt like it. I'm not trying to change anything. If anything I just want to give a wake-up call to the people who still think there actually is hope. They need to realize there is no good reason for coming here other than doing it out of habit.

No, you know what's ironic? The fact that HITLER IS A 60 YEAR OLD FAD. And using it in an argument means you're too stupid to make an actual point so you resort to comparing your opponent to the most well-known personification of evil in history. Pssh. Get over it.
